What does FabShopOne do?
FabShopOne is a fabrication and engineering shop that designs and manufactures custom parts. Services include CNC machining, 3D printing, reverse engineering, 3D scanning, CAD design, prototyping, broken-part replacement, custom modifications, and small production runs.
Can you reproduce a broken or obsolete part?
Often, yes.
Many replacement parts can be developed from the original component, photographs, measurements, drawings, or a 3D scan. When appropriate, we can also improve weak features found in the original design instead of simply copying them.
Do I need a CAD file?
No.
CAD files are helpful but not required. Many projects begin with an original part, a sketch, photographs, measurements, or simply an explanation of what you’re trying to fix or build.
Can you reverse-engineer parts?
Yes.
Reverse engineering may involve measurements, 3D scanning, CAD modeling, and prototype verification before producing the final part. This process is especially useful for discontinued or unavailable components.
Can you improve an existing design?
Yes.
Sometimes the goal is to reproduce a part exactly. Other times it makes sense to reinforce weak areas, improve durability, simplify manufacturing, or adapt the design to a different application.
How do you decide whether to use CNC or 3D printing?
Every project starts with the part—not the machine.
Material requirements, strength, tolerances, operating environment, cost, quantity, and lead time all help determine the best manufacturing process.
Will I receive a prototype first?
When appropriate, yes.
Many projects benefit from a prototype to verify fit and function before producing the final part. This helps catch problems early while keeping development costs lower.
Can you make just one part?
Absolutely.
Many projects involve producing a single replacement or custom component. Small production runs are also available when multiple copies are needed.
What materials can you work with?
Material selection depends on the project and how the finished part will be used.
CNC machining can produce parts from wood, plastics, aluminum, and other machinable materials.
3D printing can produce both rigid and flexible parts using materials selected for the application’s strength, durability, flexibility, temperature resistance, appearance, and other performance requirements.
If a part is best made by molding rather than machining or 3D printing, we can discuss that approach as well.
How accurate are finished parts?
Every manufacturing process has practical tolerances.
If your project has critical dimensions or tight tolerances, let us know during quoting so the appropriate manufacturing and inspection methods can be planned.
How much does a project cost?
Pricing depends on factors such as design work, material, complexity, machine time, quantity, finishing requirements, and inspection.
Once we understand your project, we’ll provide a quote before work begins.
How long will my project take?
Lead time depends on the complexity of the project, current workload, material availability, and whether design or prototype work is required.
Estimated lead times are provided with your quote whenever practical.
Can you install the replacement part?
For some local projects, yes.
Installation availability depends on the type of part and the project location. If installation is available, it will be discussed during the quoting process.
Do you ship completed parts?
Yes.
Completed parts can be shipped or picked up, depending on the project and your location.
